The internal conflict in 13 Gifts by Wendy Mass is that the main character, Tara, struggles to find her place in the world and figure out who she is as an individual. She comes from a very affluent family and has always had everything she could ever want, but it isn't until she begins learning more about her grandmother that she realizes she wants more out of life than just material wealth.
