The award consists of a $500 cash prize and 10 copies of the winning chapbooks for each winner, as well as publication of the winning chapbook in the NAIBA quarterly magazine, The Flying Cloud.
The Isinglass Prize
This prize is awarded for an outstanding poetry chapbook by a New England author.
The Green Rose Prize
This prize is awarded for an outstanding poetry chapbook by a diverse writer.
The Red Dragonfly Prize
This prize is awarded to an outstanding poetry chapbook by a poet of promise who has not yet published full-length collection of poetry.
Chapbooks are considered eligible if they:
- Are a sewn, perfect bound or stapled book of between 20 and 48 pages.
- Are primarily poetry, although some hybrid chapbooks with an author’s notes or brief commentary may be considered.
- Contain at least 12 pages of poetry (hybrids may count the notes as poetry).
- Are published in an edition of under 1,000 copies printed in the previous calendar year.
- Are submitted by the publisher with a $15 entry fee.
- Submissions open June 1 and close September 1.
Chapbook Press Directory
The Isinglass Awards website maintains an online directory of independent presses that publishes chapbooks. NAIBA members receive access to the directory's password protected section, containing contact information for more than 250 presses.
Award Judges
The judges are selected each year and the announcement is made in January with the call for submissions.
