What is the carnegie award?

The Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Children's Video recognize high quality children's videos that provide a source of enriching video experiences. The awards were established in 2004 to honor the creative talents responsible for the video projects and were intended to parallel the print Carnegie Medals begun in 1921.

They are awarded for video productions for a youth audience that demonstrate:

* Innovative and outstanding use of the art form and format

* Technical excellence

* Respect for the dignity of the child

* Positive values

* Sensitivity to the needs and interests of children

* Appeal for parents and other adults who live and work with children
