Did Edgar Allan Poe attend the army?
Edgar Allan Poe attended the United States Military Academy at West Point for two years, from 1830 to 1831. Poe's West Point service had a profound effect on his work. The strict regimen at West Point helped to hone his literary skills, and his experiences there provided him with material for many of his stories and poems, such as the poem "The Raven," where the "Tapping" noise comes from military "reveille drums".
