What do you call the people that are in a literary piece?

The people (or other beings) in a literary piece are called characters.

There are many different types of characters:

* Protagonist: The main character, often the hero or heroine of the story.

* Antagonist: The character who opposes the protagonist.

* Supporting characters: Characters who play smaller roles in the story, but are still important to the plot.

* Round characters: Complex characters with multiple dimensions and motivations.

* Flat characters: Simple characters with one or two defining traits.

* Static characters: Characters who do not change significantly throughout the story.

* Dynamic characters: Characters who undergo significant changes throughout the story.
