Do you have to use quotation mark in author name?

You don't typically use quotation marks around an author's name.

Here's why:

* Author names are proper nouns: They are names of specific people and should be capitalized.

* Quotation marks are for direct quotes: They indicate that you are directly quoting someone's words.

* Author names are not quotes: They are identifying the person who wrote a work.

Example:

* Correct: The novel was written by Jane Austen.

* Incorrect: The novel was written by "Jane Austen."

However, there are a few exceptions:

* If the author's name is a title: For example, "Dr. Seuss" is a pen name, and "The Weeknd" is a stage name. In these cases, quotation marks are acceptable.

* If you are referring to the author's name within a larger sentence: For example, "The book is by 'Jane Austen,' not 'Emily Brontë'." In this case, you are using the author's name as a direct quote within the sentence.

Generally, though, it's best to avoid using quotation marks around author names.
