Roald Dahl wrote most of his books in
Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England. He and his wife, Patricia Neal, moved to a farmhouse called "Gipsy House" in 1953, and it became his home and writing sanctuary for over 30 years. He wrote many of his famous children's books there, including *Charlie and the Chocolate Factory*, *Matilda*, *The BFG*, and *James and the Giant Peach*.
While he did travel and write in other locations, Great Missenden was his primary residence and the place where he produced the majority of his works.
