Roald Dahl's first published story was "The Gremlins", which appeared in the September 1943 issue of "The Saturday Evening Post".
It's interesting to note that this story, about mischievous creatures that wreak havoc on airplanes during World War II, was inspired by Dahl's own experiences as a Royal Air Force pilot.
