Who wrote A Nation at Risk?

"A Nation at Risk: The Imperative for Educational Reform" was written by the National Commission on Excellence in Education.

This commission was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Education, Terrel H. Bell, in 1981 to study the state of American education. The report was released in April 1983.

While the commission as a whole authored the report, the chairman, John W. Gardner, a former U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare, is often credited as the key figure behind the report.
