Besides these two major works, Sallust also wrote Histories (Historiae), which is a history of Rome from 78 to 67 BC. However, only fragments of this work survive, and it is much less well-known than the other two.
Sallust was a controversial figure in his own time, and his works have been the subject of debate and criticism ever since. Some have praised his vivid writing style and his insightful analysis of Roman politics and society, while others have criticized his bias and his tendency to exaggerate the role of individual personalities in historical events.
Despite this, Sallust remains one of the most important Roman historians, and his works continue to be studied and debated today.
