Who is the author of Guinness Book World Records?

The Guinness Book of World Records was created by Sir Hugh Beaver, the managing director of Guinness Breweries in Ireland.

While he didn't personally write the book, he came up with the idea in 1951 during a shooting party when he and a friend got into an argument about which was the fastest game bird in Europe.

Beaver realized there was no definitive source for settling such arguments, and the idea for a book that would record and verify world records was born.
