Kondakov wrote several books on the history of Russian art and architecture. His most famous work is "History of Russian Architecture" (1902). He also wrote books on the history of Russian icons and mosaics.
Kondakov was a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He was also a member of several foreign archaeological societies. He died in 1925 in the city of Saint Petersburg.
