Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor look into my eyes with love's sweet ray.
Remember me when all the friends are gone,
And all the voices of this world are still;
And you in the twilight, sitting, sad and lone,
Do linger by the fireside, and recall
A shadow from the past, a dream fulfilled.
Remember me when the fire is low,
And the winds are sighing through the trees;
And the pale moon is watching in the snow,
And the old year is dying in the breeze.
Remember me when the winter's cold is near,
And the snow lies deep upon the ground;
And the sun is shining on the frozen year,
And the land is silent, hushed and still around.
Remember me when the birds have flown,
And the leaves are falling from the trees;
And the wind is whispering low and lone,
And the world is wrapped in mysteries.
Remember me when the grass is green,
And the flowers are blooming all around;
And the birds are singing in the sunlit scene,
