Mark Twain wrote extensively about the Mississippi River.
He grew up on its banks in Hannibal, Missouri, and it heavily influenced his writing and his life. Some of his most famous works, like "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," are set on and around the Mississippi River.
