What are stanza forms?

Couplet: Two line group

Two souls with but a single thought,

Two hearts that beat as one.

Triplet: Three line group

I dream of peace for all the world,

To see the end of hate and strife,

A future where children learn and sing.

Quatrains: Four line group

The day is ending,

The light grows soft on the water,

A flock of ducks swims by,

All in orderly fashion towards their nests for the night.

Cinquain: Five line group, using a specific syllable formula: 2-4-6-8-2

Green and blooming alive

Trees dancing on the hills, rivers meandering in peace

A sight only for you

Serene

Tercet: A three-line stanza, usually with an A-B-A rhyme scheme. Here is an example of a Tercet:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

I miss you
