What is it called the word when your leave things as in printing?

Bleed

In printing, bleed refers to the area of a printed piece that extends beyond the edge of the paper allowing for a graphic or color to be printed all the way to the edge of the paper. This is done by extending the background or artwork of a design past the trim line.

When printed, the excess paper from the bleed is trimmed off, giving the illusion that the design goes right to the edge of the paper. Bleeds are commonly used in magazines, brochures, posters, and other marketing materials to create a more visually striking and professional look.
