Does typing paper decompose like newspaper?
Typing paper decomposes much more slowly compared to newspaper. Newspaper undergoes a rapid decomposition process due to the presence of lignin, a complex organic polymer that promotes biodegradation. On the other hand, typing paper is treated with chemicals during production, such as sizing agents, coatings, and fillers, which make the paper more resistant to decomposition. As a result, typing paper takes a significantly longer time to break down and biodegrade in the environment.
