Did the knights joust to death?

While jousting was a dangerous sport, it was rare for knights to be killed during a joust. Jousting was a controlled and regulated activity, and knights wore thick armor to protect themselves. The objective was to unhorse the opponent, not to kill him. However, there were occasional instances when a knight was killed during a joust, either due to a particularly strong blow or a malfunctioning piece of equipment.
