What of Dantes personal values is most directly demonstrated by the infernos setting?
The Inferno setting most directly demonstrates Dante's personal value of justice. The Inferno is divided into nine circles, each progressively deeper and more painful, and each inhabited by souls who have committed different types of sins. This reflects Dante's belief that sin should be punished, and that the severity of the punishment should correspond to the severity of the sin. For example, the souls of murderers and traitors are punished in the deepest and most terrible circles of Hell.
