What is the series Shaman King about?

Shaman King is a manga series written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from June 1998 to August 2004, with its chapters collected into 32 tankōbon volumes. The series follows Yoh Asakura, a shaman who can communicate with ghosts, as he competes in the Shaman Fight, a tournament held every 500 years to determine the Shaman King, who will be able to contact the Great Spirit and change the world as they see fit.

Shaman King has been adapted into several anime series. The first anime series, produced by XEBEC, aired on TV Tokyo from July 2001 to September 2002, for 64 episodes. A second anime series, produced by Bridge, aired on TV Tokyo from April 2021 to April 2022, for 52 episodes.

The series has also been adapted into several video games, including Shaman King: Spirit of Shamans (2002) for the Game Boy Advance and Shaman King: Master of Spirits (2003) for the PlayStation 2.
