When is Devon school introduced to the reader in A Separate Peace?

Devon School is introduced to the reader right at the beginning of Chapter 1 of *A Separate Peace*. The first sentence of the book is "The summer of my eighteenth year was the summer I was seventeen." Then, the narrator, Gene Forrester, immediately goes on to describe Devon, his school, and the summer session.

So, the reader learns about Devon School almost immediately.
