Should you italicize the title of a book in your paper?

In most academic writing styles, the titles of books should be _italicized_.

This includes not just novels and works of fiction, but also nonfiction works such as biographies, histories, and scientific treatises.

The titles of articles, essays, poems, and short stories, on the other hand, should be placed in quotation marks.
