David Scott-Moncrieff was a British translator who is most famous for his translations of the works of
Marcel Proust. He is known for his elegant and faithful translations of Proust's *Remembrance of Things Past* (originally *À la recherche du temps perdu*), which are considered by many to be the definitive English versions of the work.
He also translated other French authors, including André Gide and Paul Valéry.
