Buddhacharita (Sanskrit: बुद्धचरित, "The Deeds of the Buddha") is a Sanskrit epic poem in 28 cantos that tells the story of the life of the Buddha. It is one of the most important and well-known works of Buddhist literature.
Ashvaghosha was a prominent Buddhist scholar and poet who lived in the 1st or 2nd century CE. He is considered one of the greatest masters of Sanskrit literature and his Buddhacharita is a masterpiece of Buddhist poetry.
