Is an autobiography written in thrid person?

Generally, autobiographies are written in first person. This means the author is the narrator and uses "I" and "me" to tell their own story.

While there are rare exceptions, it's highly unusual for an autobiography to be written in third person. The use of "he," "she," or "they" to refer to the author would feel very strange and distance the reader from the personal experience being shared.

Think of it this way: an autobiography is about a person sharing their own life story, and the use of first person helps create a more intimate and engaging connection between the reader and the author.
