How did Dickens get ideas for his ncomic characters?

Dickens got ideas for his comic character partly through his own life experience. The experiences he had in the black factory was the inspiration for the character Oliver Twist. He also got the inspiration for the character Fagin from a local criminal called Ikey Solomons.
