What is the difference between biography and history?

Biography and history are both concerned with the study of the past, but they have different approaches and focuses.

Biography is the study of the life of a particular individual, while history is the study of the past as a whole. Biographies typically focus on the personal details of the individual's life, such as their birth, education, career, and relationships. They may also provide insights into the individual's personality, motivations, and thoughts.

Histories, on the other hand, take a broader view of the past and examine how events, trends, and institutions have shaped the course of human history. Historians may study political, economic, social, cultural, or military history, and they often use a variety of sources to reconstruct the past, such as written documents, archaeological evidence, and oral histories.

While biographies and histories are different genres, they can be complementary to each other. Biographies can provide a more personal perspective on historical events, while histories can provide a broader context for understanding the lives of individuals.
