Alcaraz began boxing at the age of 15. He had an amateur record of 65-3 before turning professional in 2006. He won his first 15 professional fights, before losing to Cristian Mijares in 2010.
After defeating Jose Alberto Leal in November 2022, the World Boxing Council ordered he face reigning champion Stephen Fulton for the 122 lbs World Championship. Although both teams could not settle to terms WBC released a purse bid which saw Golden Boy secure the rights for $1.41m.
Alcaraz has a professional record of 39-2-1, with 13 knockouts, and currently ranked 6th place with the WBC, 8th in the WBO, and 15th with the WBA in his weight class.
