Background
Rivera was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood when she was three years old. She is a graduate of Truman College and holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Rivera has a long history of community organizing and advocacy. She worked for several years as an organizer with the Puerto Rican Cultural Center and the Coalition for a Safe Environment. She also served as the executive director of the Humboldt Park Community Organization.
In 2018, Rivera was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives. She is a member of the House's Democratic caucus and serves on several committees, including the Appropriations-Elementary & Secondary Education Committee, the Children's Rights Committee, and the Housing Committee.

Aida Rivera is a mother of two. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.
